Free · for foreign travellers in China

Your card gets declined. The hotel says “no foreigners.” Now what?

Made for the moment it breaks

Every guide tells you how to set things up. Almost none tell you what to do when the setup fails — on a Sunday, with no English-speaking staff, and your bank app throwing an error you've never seen.

01 / PICK

Find the card that matches

Eight situations, in the order they actually happen to travellers: payment, hotel, taxi, trains, medical, lost, invoices, emergencies.

02 / SHOW

Turn the phone around

Each card leads with large, plain Chinese written for a clerk or driver — not machine-translated slogans. No explaining in broken Mandarin.

03 / FIX

Read your next step in English

The English side gives the three moves that actually work, including the official channel and the fallback that always works.

What a card looks like

Card 1 — payment declined. This is the one people need most often.

Card 01 ·

  1. Retry once, slowly. First large charges get flagged.
  2. Card name must match your passport exactly.
  3. Still failing → pay cash, or ask staff to scan your QR code.

  • You already had one payment or booking fail
  • You'd rather show a screen than try to explain

What you get

Questions

Do I need internet to use these?

No. Save the images to your phone and they open offline — which matters, because the moment you need card 6 is usually the moment your data stops working.

Are the Chinese sentences natural, or machine translated?

Every Chinese line is written to be read by a clerk, driver or front desk — short, polite, and unambiguous. Large type, plain wording, no slang.

Will this work outside big cities?

Yes. It's designed for smaller cities and independent hotels, where English is least available and a written Chinese sentence does the most work.

Is it really free?

Yes — no payment, no email, no account. Save the images, print the PDF, send the link to whoever is flying to China.

How often is it updated?

Each card carries a verification date. When China changes a rule, the cards change and the date moves with them.
